  1. Spot-on fit and very good quality for the price. I’ve been searching for the last year or so for good shorts with either velcro or buttons on the back pockets. I like carrying my big wad of cash in my back pocket so I want to make sure the roll of 20s don’t fall out when I sit down somewhere. I’ve been buying Docker brand shorts for many years, but they no longer make their dress shorts with secure back pockets. This being Arizona where most of the year it’s luke warm to hot weather you really need a bunch of shorts to wear near year-round.So I thought I’d try these Amazon branded ones, and bought a size 32 with a 9″ inseam in the cheapest color they had just so I could try them out (color teal for around $13). This way if I didn’t like them even after breaking them in and washing them it wouldn’t be a great financial loss.Packaging is easy and generic: inside a simple plastic bag and a small tag. No stickers, nothing else to have to remove. Just take out of the bag and remove the simple, generic, barcode tag.I noticed that the stitching was solid with sturdy thread, unlike a lot of other brands that cost twice as much and yet seem to scrimp on the thread. These feel very well made. The buttons are solidly stitched on as well and should last a long time without falling out. Zipper runs up and down very well also. When I first put them on I thought the inseam might not be the short 9″ that I prefer because it felt like it was a tad too long and was rubbing the back of my thighs, which really annoys me, hence my desire to always buy shorts with the shortest inseam. Well, I almost returned them at this point, but thought, “what the heck, for $13 I’ll wear them some more and give them a try”. Well, after a couple of hours of wearing them and walking around all over the place the hem softened up enough that it no longer bugs me by rubbing against the back of my thighs. So that’s definitely a plus for me!I started to give these a one star downgrade for the only nit I have against these shorts: the front pockets seem to be about 1/2″ to 1″ shorter than I prefer. I would prefer to have the pockets be just a little bit deeper, in which case I’d give them a solid five stars. But because of this, I’ll give them 4.51 stars and just round up for the overall very good quality and really good price. They’re not quite Docker’s quality, but they come close. The only difference, besides the pockets being a little bit shallower, is that while the cloth material is pretty thick (compared to many other brands I’ve bought over the years), it’s still a fraction of a mill less heavy cloth than Docker’s.So buy them if you want to try out something different that’s nearly as good as top end brands, but costs a third of the price. But if you carry a big wallet in your front pocket then maybe not. But my Samsung Galaxy S21 does fit well in my front pocket along with my smallish wallet. I just wouldn’t recommend carrying two big items in the same front pocket.PS I’m going to buy a few more of these to replace my worn out Docker’s

  3. Comfortable and Stylish Men’s Shorts for Every Occasion. I recently purchased a pair of men’s shorts from Amazon Essentials and I must say I am thoroughly impressed with the quality and design of these shorts. From casual outings to outdoor activities, these shorts have exceeded my expectations in terms of comfort and style.First and foremost, the material used is top-notch. The fabric is soft, lightweight, and breathable, making it perfect for hot summer days. I never felt sweaty or uncomfortable while wearing these shorts, even during long walks or outdoor sports activities. Additionally, the fabric is durable and has held up well after multiple washes, which is a testament to its high quality. The fit of these shorts is also worth mentioning. They have a relaxed fit that is neither too tight nor too loose, providing just the right amount of room for movement without looking baggy. I appreciate the attention to detail in the design, such as the deep pockets that are perfect for holding my phone, keys, and wallet securely. In terms of style, these shorts are versatile and can be dressed up or down depending on the occasion. Whether I’m running errands around town or meeting friends for a casual hangout, these shorts always look great. The classic design with subtle details gives them a timeless appeal that I know will never go out of style.Overall, I highly recommend these men’s shorts from Amazon Essentials to anyone looking for a comfortable and stylish option for their wardrobe. The quality, fit, and design make them a standout choice for everyday wear, and I am confident that they will continue to be a staple in my wardrobe for years to come.

  4. These are worth the money. If you expect these shorts to be high end, you will be disappounted. What they are is simple and plain, but fairly good looking shorts.Material is very good, stiching is 6 out of 10, and the zipper is just OK. So, are these $50 shorts? No, and they don’t pretend to be. These are $20 shorts made in Vietnam and that’s all. If you get 3 years out of them, you’ve done well. The $50 shorts won’t last much longer, I’ve had them. With washing, these get real soft and comfortable. They fit fine, right on the money for sizing. I’m happy wirh mine.

  5. Nice and comfy. The shorts were soft and compy. They were the perfect length. The only complaint I have is that the pockets were not very deep.

  6. These are excellent budget shorts. So,the husband SAYS they run small. I, on the other hand, am not blind and he’s just gotten fat. They run perfectly according to size. They are a fairly heavy, durable material that’s soft to the touch.Colors are great.I have had no problem washing the unknown schmegma my husband gets into at work out if these. The did shrink a little in the wash, but not enough to make them tight.Great shorts.

  7. Some Great, Some Suck. I have bought 8 pairs of these shorts. Some of them I absolutely LOVE. The rest of them truly SUCK!!!! They come in packs of 2. I don’t know HOW to rate these? The good ones I’d give 5 stars but the “bad” ones, I’d only give 1 or 2 stars!!The GOOD ones fit well, have nice elastic and the tie strings are just for “back up” to the elastic holding the shorts up. The Elastic is good enough that I can pull the shorts up and down without having to untie them. They have 2 pockets. The pockets are nice and deep, but for some reason, when I sit down and lean back, relaxed, Stuff DOES FALL OUT of the pockets! I’m not sure how/why. I keep my cell phone in one pocket and it falls out. I keep “stuff” (Pocket knife, flashlight, etc.) in the other pocket and it also falls out. But ONLY while I’m sitting, leaned back, relaxed. Everything stays in my pockets, perfectly well, while I’m out and about, doing chores, walking, bending over, doing normal, every day things. The strings have held up well on all the shorts. The shorts with good elastic, the strings are great. I LOVE them and I think they are WELL WORTH THE MONEY!That’s the good. Here’s the bad:SOME (approximately HALF THE SHORTS I’VE BOUGHT) don’t seem to have much, if ANY, ELASTIC in them. I HAVE to cinch those strings up TIGHT to keep the shorts on. And that HURTS my stomach!! I HATE those shorts. They are MISERABLE to have to wear and were a WASTE OF MY MONEY!! I have to UNTIE and RETIE the strings EVERY TIME I want to pull the shorts down.Would I buy these again?? “Probably” in HOPES that I could get some more GOOD pairs, but I tell you, at the rate of HALF of them being “no good”, that makes the good ones be PRETTY EXPENSIVE!I’m not sure if I could/would “recommend” these shorts or not. If you get some GOOD ones, they are well worth the money. But if you get the ones with LITTLE to NO ELASTIC in them, they aren’t worth ANYTHING. Just a waste of money.I guess, in the end, all I can say is:BUY AT YOUR OWN RISK.

  8. Fits well and comfortable 100% cotton, but not color fast. They fit well, and look great when they are brnd new. They have decent length without being too long. Nearly all manufactures add 1-1.5 inches to the listed waist size, so I consider these pants to be accurate in size. With a tape measure, I measure 32.0.” I tried both the 30″ and 31.” Either size works. With a tucked-in shirt, 31″ is best. With an untucked shirt, 30″ fits snugly on the waist (no belt needed), but leaves plenty of room in the seat. No problem with shrinkage, but the dye is not colorfast. I bought Navy Blue and after one wash, it already looks a bit faded, but not worn-out.

  10. Comfortable. I like wearing these kinds of shorts around the house. Easy to slip on, very comfortable. Hanes qulaity at a decent price. Length is just right, about 4 inches above the knee. Not to short. I would recommend these shorts if your looking for comfy elastic waistband shorts.

  11. Lightweight, comfortable. I realize you don’t have to buy namebrand workout Shorts to get good quality and a good fit. These are excellent for going to the gym. I like that they don’t have a liner in them and they have pockets. Very light weight, and a good range of colors. Highly recommend.

  12. good value. Nice fit, they wear well. Sizes are a bit large I had to go down to the next size smaller.

  13. good value. Nice fit, they wear well. Sizes are a bit large I had to go down to the next size smaller.

  14. Very Comfortable. Soft material, relaxed fit and pretty true to size. Seem to run a little on the large side for me.

  15. Since 2021: Durable & Comfortable Shorts. 5’9″ – 175 lbs with a 39” waist, the relaxed Medium fit is perfect – roomy without feeling baggy, and they sit comfortably below the waist. I’ve had these Amazon Essentials Performance Tech shorts since 2021, and they’ve held up impressively, even after countless washes and wears. The lightweight, moisture-wicking fabric keeps me cool and dry, making them great for workouts, errands, or just lounging. Plus, the 8” inseam and adjustable waistband provide a secure yet comfortable fit. These shorts are well worth it for long-lasting quality and versatility!

  16. Perfect shorts. I had some old shorts that were great, and didn’t know if I would find a replacement as good. But these Hanes shorts are great. They have a soft cotton fabric. The waist stretches, and fabric covers the inside and outside of the stretching material. This was a must-have. I can’t stand the other styles with the elastic material on the inside. They have nice deep pockets and a looped drawstring. I bought 3 pairs! Excellent choice.
